I started making handmade bags and purses back in early 2000 when I couldn't find one in the stores that met my own specifications. Over time I have expanded to tech covers and case for kindle ereaders or ipad. Lately, I have been working on more quilts and upcycling clothing into new items or adding fun patchwork. The name Rain Girl Designs come from that fact that I live in the Puget Sound area of Washington state where we are known for rainy days and big tall trees.
I strive myself on professional sewing with an eye for detail. I sew each item one at a time using one of my many sewing machines. I love to collect and use vintage sewing machines. If you follow me on instragram you've probably seen pictures of them. I love using instragram for behind the scene pictures. My sewing studio is in my home. My home is smoke free but I do have a dog.
My favorite fabric is of course quilting cottons because of the wide ranges of patterns and colors. I also love canvas fabrics from Japan. I also like using high quality wool fabrics. I have a hard time passing up a plaid wool fabric.
